After much exploration I have found some relaxing sounds to keep your zen in a dark work environment. Like Christian Rock there is Buddist Rave Music. Very meditative and relaxing. Will calm the darkest of your days, trust me. The Buddha Experience - Mandala - Shimaya by MsTeshi
Here is another one. I have no idea what she is saying, but it is good. Nine Invisibles - Destiny's Dub by MsTeshi
Once again I am working as security. I started the day before Thanksgiving as a standing guard at a generator parked at a construction site, and now I am working patrol. I drive around our fair city and deliver security to those that order some.
I spend several hours a night tucking in the dead at cemeterys. In the dark, I lock the Mausoleums, check the buildings, and lock the gates. I never really thought it would have any effect on me at first. Seeing thousands of tombstones every night with loved ones pictures on them, and flowers that have been left unattended, or the fresh dug holes for the next service. The dusty smell of the tombs mixed with flowers varies slightly from one cemetery to another. I noticed that the oldest cemetery's do not smell as pungent as the newer ones. They have more of a dusty smell, while there is a definite oder of formaldehyde in the more recent ones. I enjoy showing up at the mausoleums to see the doors are propped open for ventilation. In one of the worst tombs there is an automatic deodorizer, but it covers the smell very little. Of course once they are locked down we are not done. We respond to alarm calls from there as well. Twice in one night I got a call for interior motion alarm on one of the offices. I lock them down every night with respect, but it will definately get you thinking about our mortality.
It is definately a dark way to start my work night, the rest of my night consist of looking in bushes for spooky people. Listening to neighbors complain about their neighbors noise so I can go ask them politely to turn it down. Escorting the homeless off clients property onto the neighboring properties, making sure you locked your office door on the way out, and trying to find the juvenile that trashed the alley way only to realize that unless he confesses nothing will come of it.
Once I started on patrol I started working long hours. Our company lost a few officers over the holidays, and needed extra man hours. I worked several 12 hour shifts, and 6 days a week, that is until these two days.
It has been a shock to jump from driving a truck across the country to driving a prius across town, and I am not sure I like working patrol all that much. I recently interviewed for a position with dispatch, and soon I may be working in an environment I can excel in. For now I will be very busy driving around Fresno on my beat.
